    Jalen Brunson and the Knicks rallied to defeat the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

    The Cavs were up 93-71 with 7:52 remaining, but shot 22 percent over the rest of the game as the Knicks rallied.

    “The fans dancing with joy. They have watched one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history,” said Mike Breen. “Knicks take Game 1 behind the brilliance of Jalen Brunson.”

    The Knicks outscored the Cavs 44-11 in the last 7:40 of the fourth quarter and overtime, earning a 115-104 comeback win to defend Madison Square Garden.

    “Find a way,” said Brunson (38 pts, 5 reb, 6 ast, 3 stl). “We got some stops, kept fighting, kept believing. We just kept chipping away.”

    Donovan Mitchell (29 pts) led the Cavs in scoring, but he put his last bucket in with 8:19 to go in the fourth quarter. Evan Mobley (15 pts, 14 reb, 3 blk) contributed to the Cleveland effort.

    This is the first time in NBA history that both Game 1s of the Conference Finals have gone to overtime.

    It’s been a tough night for OG Anunoby (3 pts on 5 shots) and Miles McBride (0 pts on 1 shot), while Karl-Anthony Towns (11 pts, 10 reb, 5 ast, 6 turnovers) and Jalen Brunson (23 pts on 21 shots) have ground their way to competence for the Knicks’ offense.

    If they’re going to rally, someone’s going to have to step up in front of this Garden crowd.

    Donovan Mitchell (26 pts on 17 shots) has it going, as Cleveland takes its largest lead of the game into the fourth quarter.

    The Cavs won the turnover battle in the third 5-3; the Knicks are still struggling from long range, going 4-for-23 (17.4%) from 3-point range.

    New York’s shooting just hasn’t stabilized in this game — only Mikal Bridges (12 pts on 5-for-7 shooting) is having an above-average night.

    “We’re missing some good shots,” said Josh Hart. “The way to combat that is to get some stops defensively, play fast.”

    The Cavaliers turned to intentionally fouling Mitchell Robinson, who went 2-for-8 from the line, in the last few minutes. Robinson’s a career 50.8% free throw shooter.

    Kenny Atkinson’s strategy helped his team take control in this third period, as the Cavaliers opened up an 83-68 lead with 11.9 remaining in the quarter.

    The Cavs have the Knicks scrambling, taking a 74-63 lead with 3:18 remaining in the third.

    Sam Merrill has opened things up for Cleveland, while James Harden (9 pts) and Jarrett Allen (8 pts) are finding space in the lane.

    “They’re carving them with dribble penetration,” said Tim Legler. “Knicks having a very difficult time with containment.”

    Así fue el accidente automovilístico que habría sufrido Paolita Suárez

    De acuerdo con Javier Ceriani, la camioneta de Paolita Suárez, tras cenar en una marisquería, presuntamente habría chocado contra un repartidor de refresco. El vehículo de la influencer habría quedado completamente destruido.

    Al parecer, la famosa estaba manejando bajo los influjos del alcohol. En el video de los hechos, se puede ver la parte delantera del coche completamente destrozada por el impacto del choque.

    “Paola Suárez se llevó por delante a un repartidor. Su camioneta quedó destruida. Supuesta y alegadamente, habría estado tomando en una marisquería y abandonaron el lugar de los hechos. Se están llevando la camioneta. No se sabe si estaba en estado inconveniente, si está bien de salud”, sentenció

    El estado del repartidor todavía sería desconocido. De igual forma, Ceriani dijo que no sabía nada acerca del estado actual de Paola, más que, aparentemente, no se encontraría en la escena. El periodista no mencionó nada sobre si la creadora de contenido iba sola o acompañada.

    “Pobre repartidor, todavía no sabemos cómo quedó. ¿Por qué no se quedó en el lugar de los hechos, Paola Suárez? ¿Tenía miedo de algo?”, sentenció.

    “Hasta el momento no hay información oficial sobre su estado, ya que fue llevada de inmediato a un hospital cercano para recibir atención médica”, dio a conocer una página especializada en espectáculos.

    También se ha mencionado que la camioneta de la influencer fue trasladada a una pensión local mediante una grúa.

    Hasta ahora, no hay información oficial que corrobore qué está pasando exactamente. En tanto que, en redes sociales, los internautas han mostrado su preocupación y esperan que la influencer esté bien.

    ICE ignora fallo judicial y arresta a ciudadano hondureño en tribunal de inmigración

    Un ciudadano hondureño fue arrestado justo después de salir de una audiencia en un tribunal de inmigración en Nueva York, a menos de un día de que un juez federal limitara los arrestos realizados por agentes del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) dentro o en las inmediaciones de juzgados migratorios en la ciudad.

    La orden fue emitida por el juez Kevin Castel, del Distrito Sur de Nueva York, quien determinó que la política aplicada por el Gobierno federal para justificar este tipo de detenciones en tribunales se apoyaba en una interpretación incorrecta de directrices internas del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS).

    El fallo supone un giro respecto a resoluciones anteriores del propio juez, que había permitido la continuidad de estas detenciones hasta que el Gobierno reconoció en marzo haber cometido un error al aplicar una guía administrativa de forma incorrecta.

    Denuncias de grupos proinmigrantes

    Muchos inmigrantes han sido detenidos y ha habido denuncias de grupos proinmigrantes así como de congresistas que han acudido como observadores al 26 de Federal Plaza, donde ubica el tribunal y otras agencias federales.

    “No nos sorprende que el ICE haya mantenido su presencia en el 26 Federal Plaza a pesar del fallo del juez Castel de ayer”, dijo Benjamin Remy, abogado del New York Assistant Group que asumió la defensa del inmigrante, al que sólo han identificado como Alexander, junto al New York Habeas Project, de la Escuela de Derecho de la Universidad de Nueva York.

    “Después de casi un año de innumerables personas sufriendo a manos de la cruel y violenta política de detención y deportación masiva del ICE, éste ha demostrado que no piensa detenerse”, dijo al diario The City el abogado, que ha estado meses observando los arrestos en el tribunal de inmigración en esta ciudad.

    Otro observador es el conocido sacerdote y activista Fabián Arias, quien fue testigo del arresto del hondureño, de 21 años y sin antecedentes penales, según medios locales.

    “Les dijimos a las personas que no se preocuparan, que no podían detener a más gente. No puedo creerlo, fue cuestión de segundos. Me sorprendió muchísimo”, indicó al diario el sacerdote sobre el arresto del inmigrante por agentes de ICE enmascarados.

    De acuerdo con el medio digital, pese a la orden de Castel, la agencia puede realizar arrestos por motivos de inmigración bajo ciertas circunstancias, incluidas las amenazas a la seguridad nacional o una preocupación extrema por la seguridad pública, según las excepciones establecidas en un memorando interno de 2021.

    Pero de momento se desconoce si el arresto del hondureño responde a alguna de esas excepciones y ICE no respondió a la solicitud de comentarios de The City.

    “Nadie por encima de la ley”

    Por su parte, el congresista demócrata por Manhattan, distrito donde ubica el 26 de Federal Plaza, Dan Goldman, indicó que están recabando toda la información posible sobre el arresto, “pero sin duda parece que el ICE ha desobedecido flagrantemente” la orden judicial

    El presidente y director ejecutivo de la Coalición de Inmigración de Nueva York, Murad Awawdeh, recordó que ninguna agencia está por encima de la ley “y ICE no es la excepción”.

    “Desafiar una orden judicial federal socava el estado de derecho y erosiona la confianza pública en nuestras instituciones” dijo y agregó que el fallo del lunes fue un paso “fundamental” para restablecer la rendición de cuentas y proteger el acceso a la justicia para los inmigrantes neoyorquinos.

    El Independiente Santa Fe se metió este martes en la pelea por pasar a octavos de final de la Copa Libertadores al vencer 2-1, con anotaciones del central Iván Scarpeta y el goleador Hugo Rodallega, al Platense, que descontó con un tanto del atacante Augusto Lotti y puso en riesgo su clasificación. 

    Tras el partido de la quinta jornada, disputado en el estadio El Campín de Bogotá, el grupo E lo sigue comandando Corinthians con 10 unidades, seguido de Platense con siete e Independiente Santa Fe con cinco. Peñarol, que recibirá al Corinthians el jueves, es último con dos puntos. Los dos primeros avanzan a octavos de final y el tercero cae al play off de la Sudamericana.

    Las cuentas de Santa Fe

    Santa Fe sigue con su notable recuperación, la que le ha permitido pelear por ir a la final en la Liga local y ahora revivió en su grupo en el torneo internacional. Para avanzar a octavos de final, el equipo cardenal debe sí o sí vencer a Peñarol en la última fecha, en condición de visitante. Así, llegará a 8 puntos. Pero no depende de sí mismo, debe esperar que Corinthians le gane a Platense de visita, así lo dejaría con 7 y los brasileños avanzarían junto a los colombianos.

    Podría pasar que Santa Fe gane y Platense empate, en ese caso igualarían con 8 puntos y la definición sería por ítems de desempate. Ahí, el primero es el enfrentamiento directo, en el que también empatarían. Luego pasarían a definir por diferencia total de goles.

    Otro escenario es que a Santa fe no le alcance, porque Platense le gane a Corinthians. En ese caso, el cuadro cardenal aspirará a ir a Copa Sudamericana, para eso entrará en pelea con Peñarol, por lo que también tendrán que vencer en Montevideo para quedarse con el tercer lugar.

    São Paulo sobrevivió a un bravo Millonarios este martes en la quinta fecha de la Copa Sudamericana, en la que Montevideo City Torque quedó a las puertas de los octavos de final y el chileno Audax Italiano también se anotó en la pelea. Tras el compromiso, el técnico visitante, Fabián Bustos, habló del juego.

    Los paulistas lograron salvar un punto frente a un Embajador que tuvo todo para conseguir una histórica victoria, pero desperdició un penalti a dos minutos del final y debió conformarse con el empate 1-1.

    ICE arresta a la inmigante mexicana Brenda Rivera-Estrada tras accidente en Arizona donde murió su hija de 9 años

    Agentes de Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) arrestaron a Brenda Liliana Rivera-Estrada, acusada de homicidio involuntario y abuso infantil tras un accidente automovilístico ocurrido el pasado 12 de abril en Arizona, donde murió su hija de 9 años y otros tres menores resultaron heridos.

    Rivera-Estrada fue entregada a custodia migratoria por la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Maricopa que no presentó cargos contra la mexicana, luego de que se emitiera una orden de detención migratoria.

    Autoridades sospechaban que conducía bajo efectos de alcohol o drogas

    De acuerdo a los reportes, la menor salió expulsada del vehículo durante el accidente. Además, investigadores sospechan que Rivera-Estrada manejaba bajo los efectos del alcohol o drogas al momento del accidente donde murió su hija.

    Aunque inicialmente se le fijó una fianza de $100,000 dólares, la fiscalía finalmente no presentó cargos y la mujer fue puesta en libertad, para posteriormente quedar bajo custodia de ICE.

    ICE dice que seguirá detenida

    Alejandro Almeida, subdirector de la oficina de Operaciones de Control y Deportación de ICE en Phoenix, dijo que el caso refleja el trabajo del Programa para Extranjeros Delincuentes de la agencia.

    Según ICE, Rivera-Estrada ingresó a Estados Unidos el 14 de febrero de 2009 por Nogales, Arizona, con permiso temporal para permanecer 30 días, pero permaneció en el país después de ese plazo.

    Las autoridades migratorias informaron que permanecerá detenida mientras continúa su proceso migratorio.

  • SoFi Bank se suma a la tendencia de tokenización de depósitos

    Los bancos comerciales de Estados Unidos avanzan en la digitalización financiera mediante el uso corporativo de redes de criptomonedas. Uno de los ejemplos más recientes es SoFi Bank, una institución con licencia nacional fundada en 2011 que programó la implementación de depósitos tokenizados para el tercer trimestre de 2026.

    La revelación de esta novedad ocurrió el pasado 11 de mayo de 2026 en el evento BitGo’s High Roller Summit en Las Vegas. Simon Griffin, líder de distribución de criptomonedas en SoFi, afirmó que «primero fue la stablecoin; el depósito tokenizado está previsto para el tercer trimestre».

    Los depósitos tokenizados son registros donde el dinero se representa como tokens equivalentes a dinero fíat. Esto permite realizar liquidaciones internas en formato digital de manera inmediata sin modificar el estatus regulatorio del dinero.

    Esta representación digital convive de forma directa con los registros tradicionales del banco. Mediante este mecanismo paralelo, se garantiza la supervisión bancaria habitual y cubiertas por el seguro de depósitos de la Corporación Federal de Seguro de Depósitos (FDIC) de Estados Unidos

    Respecto al marco legal general, Griffin explicó con un ejemplo la naturaleza jurídica de estos nuevos desarrollos:

    Imagina un billete de 100 dólares en tu mano: es un activo puramente tuyo. Si lo depositas en el banco, deja de ser un papel físico y se convierte en un depósito bancario. Ahora, imagina que el banco registra ese mismo depósito red de criptomonedas. La seguridad legal es la misma que la de tu cuenta de siempre. Sigue siendo un acuerdo de depósito tradicional, respaldado por el banco y protegido por la FDIC, pero adaptado al mundo digital.

    Griffin aclaró la postura de SoFi. «Distinguimos claramente entre stablecoins y depósitos tokenizados. Estos últimos sí pueden pagar interés y cuentan con protección de depósitos», expresó durante el evento.

    Adicionalmente, SoFi expandirá la distribución de esta tecnología a otros actores económicos del país, tanto dentro de su base de clientes como fuera, especialmente a otros bancos más pequeños, uniones de crédito y aseguradoras, comentó el ejecutivo.

    Previo a esto, la institución financiera consolidó las bases de este ecosistema técnico con hitos concretos de desarrollo. El 18 de diciembre de 2025 lanzó su propia stablecoin SoFiUSD que permitirá a SoFi actuar como proveedor de infraestructura de stablecoins para bancos, empresas fintech y plataformas empresariales.

    Luego de ese paso, en abril estrenó su plataforma corporativa SoFi Big Business Banking, diseñada para permitir a las compañías gestionar tanto dinero tradicional como criptomonedas en un mismo lugar. El servicio permite mantener dólares estadounidenses, convertirlos en stablecoins y transferir fondos las 24 horas del día dentro del banco regulado de SoFi.

    Esta iniciativa se produce en un contexto en el que los mercados financieros exploran modelos de operación más continuos y digitales, impulsados por el desarrollo de activos tokenizados. La transformación responde a demandas globales de transacciones institucionales ininterrumpidas.

    Paralelamente, otras entidades de gran envergadura ya ejecutan programas similares dentro del ecosistema financiero estadounidense. El banco BNY Mellon (BNY) permite desde enero a sus clientes institucionales operar con depósitos bancarios tokenizados dentro de su plataforma de activos digitales, tal como reportó CriptoNoticias.

    Por su parte, Cari Network, una red interbancaria, fue creada junto a cinco bancos regionales estadounidenses para modernizar los pagos digitales en el sistema bancario regulado. Las entidades participantes son Huntington Bancshares, First Horizon, M&T Bank, KeyCorp y Old National Bancorp.
