Live Updates: 2026 NBA Summer League, Day 8 | Cameron Boozer, Grizzlies, chase semifinals berth

Cameron Boozer and the Grizzlies are facing the Hawks with a semifinals spot hanging in the balance on Prime as the 2026 NBA Summer League continues.

Welcome to Day 8 of the 2026 NBA Summer League, as we prepare to find out who advances to the semifinals of this year’s tournament!

Led by No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea (9 reb, 14 ast) and the high-flying acrobatics of Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu (12 pts, 5 reb), the Mavericks defeated the Thunder 97-87.

The Rockets beat the Nets 103-83, led by backcourt mates Bruce Thornton (23 pts) and Tristen Newton (20 pts), giving them a 3-1 record and a chance to make the semifinals.

The Lakers advanced to the semifinals by earning a 105-82 win over the Bulls, as six double-figure scorers overcame Caleb Wilson (21 pts, 8 reb).

The Warriors vaulted into contention for a semifinals spot by beating the Knicks 87-77.

Now, we have the Grizzlies, led by No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer, and the Hawks vying for a semifinals spot (8 ET, Prime Video), while the Raptors play the Heat in the Pavilion (9 ET, ESPN2).

No. 19 pick Allen Graves leads the Raptors (2-1), who are in contention for a semifinals spot, against Jahmir Young and the Heat (1-2).

Warriors win 87-77

LJ Cryer (17 pts) was the top scorer for Golden State, as they vaulted into the No. 4 spot with a chance to advance to the 2026 NBA Summer League semifinals on the line.

“We’re really hungry,” said Cryer.

Yaxel Lendeborg (3 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast) didn’t have his shot, but contributed elsewhere for the Warriors in the win.

Michigan State graduate Jordan Akins (21 pts) was the top scorer for the Knicks.

Grizzlies set Summer League defensive record

One day after the Celtics set a new record by holding the Kings to four first quarter points, the Grizzlies have broken it by keeping the Hawks to two points in the first period of their contest.

They won the period 32-2, vaulting them into competition for a semifinals spot, as the Hawks shot 1-for-13 (7.6%) from the field in the quarter.

No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies are going up against No. 52 pick Henri Veesar and the Atlanta Hawks, with both teams playing for a chance to advance to the semifinals.

Lakers win 105-82

The Los Angeles Lakers clinch a spot in the 2026 NBA Summer League semifinals by defeating the Bulls.

Six Lakers scored in double figures, led by Chris Mañon (16 pts, 6 reb) and Cameron Carr (14 pts, 3 reb), as the team shot 49.2% from the field and posted 24 assists on 32 field goals.

Caleb Wilson (21 pts, 8 reb) was the top scorer for the Bulls.

The Lakers have extended their lead to 66-42 with 5:42 to go in the third, but Caleb Wilson put up an eye-catching block here.

The 6-foot-10 forward has go-go-Gadget arms at times.

Lakers lead at the half with semifinal berth on the line

Los Angeles is up 56-40 after a physical first half, which ended with the teams jawing as they went to the locker room.

“It definitely got a little bit chippy. Everybody’s fighting for that Summer League title,” said Jon Elmore (6 pts, 3 ast).

Nine Lakers have scored so far, led by Chris Mañon (10 pts, 5 reb), while Caleb Wilson (11 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast) leads the Bulls.

“Ricky Bobby would appreciate — if you’re not first, you’re last,” said Prime’s Brendan Glasheen. “Shake and bake!”

No. 11 pick Yaxel Lendeborg has shown a little bit of everything for the Warriors (2-1), but hasn’t had a huge scoring game so far in Vegas.

Will he go off against the Knicks (1-2), who have physical, talented forwards?

Rockets win 103-83

Bruce Thornton (23 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl) and Tristen Newton (20 pts, 6 reb, 2 stl) attacked to lead the Rockets to a win over the Nets and a 3-1 record, which places them in the semifinals at this point.

“We play basketball to win,” said Newton. “We came out here to win the whole championship, so hopefully we make the playoffs and win the whole championship.”

Houston shot 12-for-24 (50%) from 3-point range in the victory.

Egor Dёmin (21 pts, 3 ast, 2 stl) led the way for the Nets, while Mikel Brown Jr. (14 pts on 15 shots) battled for his offensive production.

Rookies trading flashes

Caleb Wilson (7 pts, 1 ast, 1 stl) just dropped a dime on a nice bounce pass through traffic, followed by a pull-up jumper from Cameron Carr (4 pts, 1 stl).

Good to see Wilson showing passing vision — he could be a meaningful secondary playmaker for the Bulls, providing some Blake Griffin or Kevin Garnett-esque value on the short roll.

Carr looks smooth — Jim Jackson’s Mikal Bridges comp rang true on his shot.

No. 24 pick Cameron Carr and No. 4 Caleb Wilson are both suited up and ready to hit the hardwood as our action continues in the Thomas & Mack Center.

Los Angeles is in the driver’s seat for a spot in the semifinals. If they win, they’re in.

Mavericks win 97-87

The Mavericks had six players in score in double figures to help them even their record at 2-2.

Sergio De Larrea (2 pts, 9 reb, 14 ast) and Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu (12 pts, 5 reb) formed a dynamite pick-and-roll combination, while John Poulakidas (19 pts, 5 3PM), Darin Green (18 pts, 4 3PM) and Vsevolod Ishchenko (12 pts, 2 3PM) went off from long range.

“I think today we had a lot of 2-on-1 advantages… Great shooters,” said De Larrea. “KO, we have a great connection.”

Dallas scored 34 points off De Larrea’s assists.

Books Barnhizer (21 pts, 12 reb, 5 ast) did a bit of everything to help the Thunder stay in it.

“What a show these young men put on for us today, and for the crowd,” said Prime’s Teresa Weatherspoon. “KO, you were everywhere my guy… and know De Larrea — know him. His vision is unreal.”

Thornton to the rack

The all-time leading scorer at Ohio State takes one to the rack here, showing his burst and strong frame on the drive. He could be a complementary guard for the Rockets, playing off the size and defensive presences around him.

The 22-year-old guard is listed at 6-foot-2, 215, and was durable in college, only missing one game in his four-year career with the Buckeyes. He’s also the program’s all-time leader in made free throws.

Dallas-OKC in a close one

Mavericks up 49-45 at the half, as Darin Green Jr. (11 pts, 3 3PM) leads them in scoring in a free-flowing battle in the Thomas & Mack Center.

Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu (6 pts, 4 reb) made a splash in the first half with his leaping ability, including three crazy alley-oops.

“I always try to come off the bench, give us some energy,” said Akobundu-Ehiogu. “I can see the energy in the gym shifting.”

Former Piston Buddy Boeheim (13 pts, 2 3PM) got hot to lead the Thunder.

Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu soars

The 6-foot-10 forward soared to the rim for three straight alley-oops, including a wild one-handed slam on a long-range lob from Sergio De Larrea. Highlights to open Thursday’s action.

“Who would think he would get this? But he did,” said Prime’s Teresa Weatherspoon. “Talk to me nice — I like it.”

“Box office!” said Prime’s Brendan Glasheen.

The Timberwolves defeated the Pacers 114-98 to open Tuesday’s action, as Zyon Pullin (23 pts) and Isaiah Evans (22 pts, 4 3PM) led six double-figure scorers.

The Magic ran their record to 3-1 by defeating the 76ers 99-92, shooting 56.1% as a team, headlined by Jase Richardson (25 pts on 10-for-15 FG).

Malakai Branham (23 pts) led the Cavaliers over the Pelicans 82-77 in a defensive battle.

Khaman Maluach (24 pts, 15 reb) continued his strong summer with a big-time double-double, leading the Suns to a 100-88 win over the Pistons.

No. 13 pick Nate Ament (23 pts, 6 reb) was one of eight Bucks that scored in double figures in a 110-91 win over No. 14 pick Hannes Steinbach (27 pts, 15 reb) and the Hornets.

Hugo Gonzalez (24 pts, 10 reb, 5 ast) and the Celtics survived a late comeback attempt from No. 29 pick Alex Karaban (21 pts, 5 3PM) and the Kings to win 82-76 and move to 3-1.

The Spurs defeated the Jazz 94-82 behind Ja’Kobi Gillespie (23 pts) and Hyunjung Lee (22 pts), outdoing No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson (15 pts).

Kobe Sanders (26 pts, 5 ast) led the Clippers past the Wizards 108-94 to cap Day 7 of the 2026 NBA Summer League, overcoming a sterling effort by Seth Trimble (23 pts).
