The 2026 edition of NBA free agency opens at 6 ET, as stars, role players, young talents and NBA hopefuls hit the open market.

What we know about NBA Free Agency 2026:

  • Teams are free to negotiate with players beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
  • Any deals announced tonight will be reported, not confirmed. Teams can officially sign players to contracts beginning at 12:01 p.m. ET on July 6.
  • LeBron James, James Harden, Jalen Duren and Norman Powell are among the former All-Stars available in this year’s free-agent class.

 

JUNE 30 / 12:15 p.m. ET

Reports: LeBron to change teams for 2026-27

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer will be moving on from the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, tells multiple outlets that James is moving on from the Lakers and won’t return for 2026-27. James had spent the past six seasons with the Lakers and won an NBA title with them in 2019-20. Last season, he posted 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.

Blazers, Williams III reportedly agree to deal

Robert Williams III, a versatile shot-blocking big man, reportedly plans to stay with the Trail Blazers. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports Williams plans to sign a three-year deal. Last season, which was Williams’ third in Portland, he posted 6.7 ppg, 7 rpg and 1.5 bpg in 17.1 minutes per game.

Report: Fontecchio staying in Miami

Heat forward Simone Fontecchio is reportedly staying put as he intends to sign a one-year deal with the team, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Fontecchio shot 37.5% on 3-pointers last year and averaged 8.5 points, 3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for Miami.
