SAN FRANCISCO – Ryan Conwell and Jahmir Young each scored 21 points as the Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 88-87, at Chase Center in San Francisco, California, in a 2026 California Classic Summer League matchup on Friday evening.

The Heat enjoyed a dominant start in the first quarter and raced to a nine-point lead after a 25-16 score. However, the Spurs bounced back in the second quarter and responded with a 20-18 score, but the Heat still led by seven at the break.

The momentum was clearly on the Spurs’ side in the second half, and they made it a six-point game ahead of the final quarter with a 23-22 score. The Spurs fought hard in the final quarter and reduced the deficit to one point with less than 35 seconds left in the fourth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

R.J. Davis had a golden chance to win it, but he missed a pull-up 3-pointer for the Spurs with two seconds left, meaning Miami ultimately held on to open their California Classic campaign with a victory.

Vladislav Goldin made his presence felt at both ends of the floor, as the 25-year-old Russian big man posted 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Trevor Keels, a second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Duke, added 18 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals off the bench.

Five San Antonio players scored in double digits, with Miles Kelly’s 16-point output leading the way. Davis, who missed the potential game-winning 3, added 15 points and three assists off the bench. A trio of 2025 Draft selections had 10 points in Maliq Brown, Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Tarris Reed Jr., out of Duke, Tennessee and UConn, respectively.

Both teams play again Sunday, with the Heat facing the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Spurs facing the Golden State Warriors Gold split squad roster.
