Según el modelo que usa el PIB, bitcoin valdría cerca de 700 mil dólares en 2025.
Para Saylor, el potencial máximo del precio de bitcoin es de 10 millones de dólares.
Los maximalistas de Bitcoin suelen repetir el mantra “∞/21.000.000”. Algunos nocoiners dicen “refutar esa falacia” poniendo en duda el suministro de veintiún millones, por lo menos en términos teóricos. En esta nota, al contrario, lo que quiero poner en duda es el infinito, y encontrar un límite razonable al que podría llegar el poder de compra de 1 BTC.
El infinito en esa fórmula representa al dinero fiduciario, que a veces se confunde con valor, dándonos a entender que 1 BTC puede valer infinito.
Un colega de este medio, Nicolás Antiporovich, escribió una nota en 2024: ¡Es la capitalización de mercado, estúpido! Allí, nos alerta sobre las predicciones precipitadas acerca de los precios de las altcoins. En la mayoría de los casos, quienes hacen estas predicciones no consideran las cantidades netas de valor que deben entrar en una altcoin para provocar los aumentos de precio esperados.
Para que un activo suba de precio, debe aumentar su capitalización de mercado, una cifra que luego se divide entre las unidades circulantes. Por ejemplo, si tenemos un activo con 1 millón de unidades que valen 1 dólar cada una, cada nuevo dólar que entre aumentará su precio en USD 0.000001, necesitando otro millón de dólares para llegar a un valor de 2 dólares por unidad. Si hablamos de porcentajes, cuanto mayor es la capitalización, más volumen se requiere para tener un impacto significativo.
Quiero llamar la atención sobre esto mismo pero aplicado a bitcoin ¿Cuánto valor podemos esperar que absorba el activo? La respuesta a esta pregunta depende en gran medida de la forma de cálculo que se aplique, y de si bitcoin es entendido como medio de cambio o medio de ahorro.
Si bien el objetivo de este estudio no es exactamente predecir un máximo al precio de BTC, lo hace como parte de su desarrollo. El modelo que utiliza calcula el precio a partir del PBI global y la velocidad de circulación; es decir, considera a BTC como un medio de cambio en constante movimiento y asume una cantidad relativamente baja de monedas inmovilizadas por atesoramiento y pérdida, que dan un circulante de BTC 18.000.000. Es decir, considera que el uso de BTC como medio de ahorro será solamente de 3.000.000 de unidades o menos, algo bastante marginal.
El PBI global fue aproximadamente USD 100 billones en 2025. El estudio hace proyecciones del precio de BTC para 2025, 2030 y 2040 basadas en su modelo, ajustado al precio de ~ USD 100.000 de mayo de 2025. Sus predicciones son las siguientes:
La fórmula utilizada es: Pb = PBID / SV
Donde:
Pb: Precio de BTC
PBI: PBI global
D: Adopción, con un valor entre 0 (0%) y 1 (100%). Se usa multiplicado por el PBI, como se ve en la fórmula, por lo que representa el porcentaje del PBI que está “bitcoinizado”, que se opera usando BTC.
S: Suministro o circulante de BTC, que el autor fija siempre en 18.000.000 al descontar monedas perdidas y atesoradas.
V: Velocidad de circulación. Indica las veces que una unidad de BTC pasa de una persona a otra. Generalmente se estima dividiendo el valor del PBI por la cantidad de moneda circulante. El autor no lo calcula en este trabajo, sino que ofrece valores hipotéticos.
El modelo de Vérez Mato estima que con una adopción del 80% y una velocidad de 5, BTC tendría un precio de USD 2.811.111 por unidad.
El modelo que veremos a continuación es diferente y arroja otros resultados. En lugar de estimar el precio de BTC en función del PBI global (que mide la producción de bienes y servicios), lo hace en función de la riqueza atesorada.
Medio de ahorro, BTC sobre el valor atesorado
Michael Saylor, en su ponencia de Bitcoin 2026 dijo lo siguiente: “El objetivo final es llevar el precio de Bitcoin a 10 millones por moneda y convertir Bitcoin en una red de 200 billones.” Si partimos del modelo anterior, esta afirmación carece de sentido: si el PBI global ronda los 100 billones ¿cómo podría Bitcoin acaparar el doble de eso?
Para entenderlo, tenemos que conocer primero el modelo con el cual Saylor hace sus predicciones, aunque sin dar a su creador original el crédito que se merece. Este modelo es el de Jesse Myers (Croesus_BTC), explicado en el artículo “Bitcoin’s Full Potential Valuation“ de 2023.
Dicho modelo asume la perspectiva de que Bitcoin no compite en una industria, pues una industria atañe a una necesidad específica de un bien o servicio que las empresas ofrecen y por el que los clientes pagan, cuya suma total es la economía (PBI). La economía produce valor (beneficios), pero ese valor se almacena en activos de ahorro. El valor almacenado en todos estos activos no es el PBI (el valor en movimiento) y es mucho más grande que este.
Los distintos activos tienen distintos límites máximos de valor que pueden llegar a acaparar. Si representamos a todos los medios de ahorro en conjunto como una gran caja que guarda valor, y a cada activo particular como una caja más pequeña dentro de ella, hay un límite realista al tamaño que cada una de estas cajas puede llegar a tener.
Esto se debe a que la valoración de cada categoría de activos está limitada por variables clave. En el caso de las materias primas o commodities, su valoración está limitada por la nueva oferta. Por ejemplo, el oro aumenta en aproximadamente 2% cada año, por lo que el valor guardado en oro disminuye en esa misma medida. En el caso de Bitcoin, la oferta es fija y predecible.

El mercado total potencial de bitcoin es el activo neto mundial de 900 billones de dólares.
En 2023, la asignación global de bitcoin era del 0.05%. 400.000 millones de dólares, contra un total de 900 billones. Eso es una 2000ª parte del valor de los activos globales. Al momento de escribir esta nota, mayo de 2026, la capitalización de mercado de BTC es 1.47 billones de dólares, el triple de lo que fue en 2023, pero apenas el 0.16% de ese total.

Según las estimaciones más conservadoras de Myers (tomadas por Saylor), Bitcoin podría absorber el 25% del valor atesorado, 225 billones, y su precio por unidad podría alcanzar un potencial máximo de 10 millones de dólares.
Conclusión, contrastando los dos modelos
Cada modelo parte de una idea diferente de hiperbitcoinización. Para Vérez Mato la hiperbitcoinización significa un uso generalizado de BTC como medio de intercambio, una idea afín a la propuesta original del concepto hecha por Krawisz en 2014, pero que pasa por alto su función como medio de ahorro. En cambio, para Myers, la hiperbitcoinización (si bien no utiliza ese término en su trabajo) consiste en un movimiento de valor desde otros medios de ahorro hacia BTC.
Habiendo presentado ambos modelos, considero que el de Myers es más acertado y el de Vérez Mato es demasiado conservador. Explicaré por qué en lo sucesivo.
Considero que el trabajo de Vérez Mato se queda corto al sopesar el uso de BTC como medio de ahorro. No solamente por hacer un cálculo en base al PBI, una medida de la producción y no del valor fijo, sino también porque les adjudica un valor marginal a esas monedas atesoradas. Recordemos uno de sus supuestos fundamentales: el circulante de BTC es de 18.000.000, lo que quiere decir que en su modelo solamente BTC 3.000.000 se encuentran perdidas o atesoradas.
Esa estimación me parece desacertada, creo que la realidad debe ser más bien la inversa, basándome en los datos de distribución de BTC de River, que ya cité en otro de mis artículos.
Aquí tenemos que hay 1,57 millones de monedas perdidas, 968.000 monedas en billeteras de Satoshi, es decir 2,53 millones irrecuperables. Eso nos deja un margen muy chico para atesoramiento, solo 462.000, de las cuales Strategy ya tiene 843.738 (al 30/05/2026), cerca del doble de esa cantidad.
Por otro, la estimación de Alfredo Roisenzvit de la oferta de bitcoin en el mercado, expuesta en su presentación “Qué mueve realmente el precio de Bitcoin” en LABITCONF 2025. 7,8 millones en direcciones inactivas, 15 millones en tenedores de largo plazo, 3 millones en tenedores de corto plazo, con una tendencia a la baja, y otros 3 millones depositados en exchanges.
Eso le da una estimación de entre 2 y 4 millones de BTC en circulación. Es decir, la proporción entre BTC en circulación y atesoramiento parece ser la inversa a la que plantea Vérez Mato: 2 a 4 millones en circulación y 17 a 19 millones en atesoramiento.
Si en lugar de calcular un circulante tan alto pusiéramos un décimo (1.8 millones, cercano al mínimo de Roisenzvit) en el modelo para 2030 de Vérez Mato, el resultado sería un precio de USD 11.111.111,11 y una capitalización de USD 233.333.333.333.333, valores muy cercanos al modelo de Myers.
Si bien Myers y Saylor no dan un marco temporal de sus predicciones como Vérez Mato, consideran ese 25% de cuota de mercado como un potencial techo a la adopción de BTC como medio de ahorro, indicando una posible estabilización del precio llegado ese punto.
Vérez Mato hace predicciones sumamente conservadoras hasta 2070 y también considera que en ese punto el precio se estabilizará. Por lo tanto, sin saber el cuándo tenemos un cuánto bastante preciso: podemos esperar BTC en USD 1.000.000 y hasta USD 10.000.000, pero luego de eso sería muy raro ver ciclos y volatilidad como los que acostumbramos ahora. Probablemente siga subiendo, pero de forma más progresiva y constante.

El modelo busca atraer más liquidez institucional al ecosistema.
La plataforma de trading descentralizado Hyperliquid puso en marcha una profunda reestructuración de su modelo de liquidez y reservas, mediante una transferencia récord de aproximadamente USD 4.400 millones en USDC. El movimiento, anunciado por Coinbase el 12 de junio de 2026, activa oficialmente el marco Aligned Quote Asset v2 (AQAv2), que convertirá a la stablecoin emitida por Circle en el principal activo de referencia dentro del ecosistema.
Los fondos fueron enviados por Circle a una dirección administrada por Coinbase en HyperEVM, la capa de contratos inteligentes de Hyperliquid. Según explicó Coinbase, se trata de la mayor transferencia de USDC registrada hasta la fecha.
La operación materializa un acuerdo anunciado semanas atrás entre Coinbase, Circle y Hyperliquid. Bajo este esquema, Coinbase asumirá el papel de gestor oficial de la tesorería de USDC en la red, mientras que Circle continuará encargándose de la emisión, redención y transferencias entre redes mediante su protocolo Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP).
El objetivo del nuevo modelo es consolidar a USDC como principal activo de cotización y liquidez del protocolo. Como parte de esa transición, Hyperliquid comenzará a sustituir progresivamente a USDH, una stablecoin desarrollada dentro de su propio ecosistema.
Como reportó Criptonoticias, AQAv2 también modifica la forma en que se distribuyen los ingresos generados por las reservas que respaldan a USDC. De acuerdo con la información divulgada, la mayor parte de esos rendimientos será canalizada hacia Hyperliquid. Con una rentabilidad estimada cercana al 4% anual, distintas estimaciones sitúan esos ingresos entre USD 140 millones y USD 200 millones por año.
Parte de esos recursos será destinada a recompras de HYPE, el token nativo de Hyperliquid. El mecanismo busca crear una fuente recurrente de demanda para el activo al tiempo que fortalece los incentivos económicos del protocolo.
¿Las grandes corporaciones están desplazando iniciativas nativas?
La transición, sin embargo, no está exenta de cuestionamientos. Algunos participantes del ecosistema consideran que la sustitución de USDH por USDC aumenta la dependencia de una stablecoin emitida por una entidad centralizada. Otros señalan que el acuerdo refuerza la influencia de Coinbase y Circle sobre una infraestructura que hasta ahora había apostado por soluciones más nativas.
El trader Akira Noma ironizó en X que, tras meses defendiendo las ventajas de USDH frente a USDC, Hyperliquid terminó adoptando esta última como activo principal. Según su interpretación, los grandes participantes del mercado no se limitaron a integrarse en el ecosistema, sino que terminaron imponiendo sus condiciones.
En la misma red social, el usuario conocido como Smallro_man cuestionó que una stablecoin nativa impulsada mediante gobernanza comunitaria haya sido desplazada por una alternativa respaldada por Coinbase y Circle, reavivando el debate sobre el equilibrio entre descentralización, liquidez e influencia corporativa.
También existe controversia sobre el precedente económico que establece el acuerdo. Mientras Hyperliquid obtiene una nueva fuente de ingresos vinculada a las reservas de USDC, algunos analistas han advertido que emisores y distribuidores de stablecoins podrían verse obligados a compartir una parte cada vez mayor de esos rendimientos para asegurar su presencia en los principales protocolos del mercado.
Por los momentos, la decisión de Hyperliquid refleja una tendencia cada vez más visible en las redes de criptomonedas: los protocolos compiten por atraer stablecoins porque estas se han convertido en la principal fuente de liquidez del mercado. Si AQAv2 funciona como espera Hyperliquid, otros proyectos podrían adoptar modelos similares, donde los rendimientos de las reservas de stablecoins se conviertan en una nueva fuente de ingresos para financiar el crecimiento de sus ecosistemas.

“I’ve been the league for nine years. I had a lot of instability before I got here, in those 6.5 years or whatever it was, I had six head coaches, three different teams… I was looking for a home and stability, and I found that in New York, first with Thibs (Tom Thibodeau) and now with Mike (Brown).
“I think the city really embraced me — my style of play, me as a person. When you do that, you feel like you’re able to go out there and play your best. The city is built on toughness, grit — blue-collar people, and I feel like I’m the same person. They can look in the mirror, they can see myself, because that’s how I see myself — I just happen to hoop.
“So, the stability at home in New York has been amazing, and hopefully we can keep it going.”
On offensive rebounding from the guards and wings…

“Sometimes, you get the cleanest looks for your best shooters off offensive rebounds. If you’re able to punish teams on the offensive glass, get extra possessions, change the momentum, that’s something that’s huge.
“For us, besides JB, and Jose, and Deuce, a lot of us are taller, stronger wings… obviously, Mitch is an amazing offensive rebounder. When you’re able to do that, get extra possessions, it increases your chances to win. It also helps negate teams like y’all that play extremely fast and kill teams in transition.”
On the importance of the camaraderie in the Knicks locker room…
“It’s been invaluable. I think you can look at the play where I missed a layup last game. I miss a layup, and we come down, we foul Wemby… and I ended up on the ground. And I was frustrated, and I was kind of down on myself, and you see JB, KAT, Jose run up to me, pick me up, you see Landry on the bench, yelling at me to get up, doing those type of things.
“When you have a team that has that kind of togetherness in the most adverse situations, that breeds championship habits and a championship team…
“When you have a team like that, man, whatever happens in a game, you feel like you can get through it.”

“I think it gets a little easier to focus on the game plan. Most of the time, when you dig yourself into that hole, you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing… you don’t have that attention to detail.

“He understands people very well, and knows how to speak to them. I’m no exception — he knows how to speak to me. In game, it feels like nonverbal communication as much as verbal, because first of all, it’s loud, and sometimes we’re far away…
“He knows what I need, he knows what I need to get to, and I also know what he needs, what signals he needs to get to. We’ve grown very much in that sense.”

“Conviction, strength and confidence. There’s no trick; there’s no avoiding what’s happened. All four games have been winnable games. There’s not avoiding that we’re down 3-1. There’s not avoiding ways that we could be better; there’s no one that’s going to be harder on ourselves or more accountable to ourselves than the people in that locker room and each other. That’s what’s helped us get to where we are, and that’s how the group is built, and there’s no circumstance that’ll change that.”

“We’ve had that discussion throughout the season… He’s played heavy minutes at times through the games — all minutes aren’t created equal. Some quarters are really slow, whether there’s reviews or timeouts or whatnot…
“Looking back at it, I do believe that I have to make sure that I help him have the energy required to finish the game as strong as he needs to finish the game.”
On what he focused on after Game 4…
“The third quarter had the most disappointing parts, in terms of the lead was big, and it wasn’t quite hurting us enough… now you’re up 22, now you’re up 18… so there’s natural logic that says ‘teams make runs, and you may not just boat race somebody in an NBA Finals game at their place. But there’s a lot of things that we did where it felt like we could have put our energy in the right spots… and some things I could have done as well. I think that third quarter was most disappointing for me.”
On what they could have done on OG’s tip-in and the reaction to Fox’s game…
“I don’t get into social media. I think I’ve probably been fired 212 times and we’ve traded Fox 72 times, and unfortunately we’ve still got to show up and play tomorrow and I’ve got to coach. The people who matter, we bond together and we stick together through the highs and lows…
“We were, I think, chosen to be in the Play-In, and so I think there’s a lot of things that have happened. Fox and I were fortunate enough to experience All-Star Weekend — we got a lot of positive after that, and we lost a tough game in the Finals that we had a lot to do with, in terms of we had control to walk that thing down. The Knicks pulled off the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, coming back from a 29-point deficit to win the game 107-106 on a tip-in by O.G. Anunoby with 1.2 seconds remaining.
This is the second Finals to have two games decided by a single point (1975).
La Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) de Guerrero ha capturado a uno de los objetivos prioritarios en el caso del asesinato del ambientalista Marco Suástegui. La dependencia ha comunicado este viernes que ha detenido a Harold ‘N’, el autor material del crimen que disparó contra el defensor ambiental y líder de los trabajadores turísticos en la playa Icacos de Acapulco el 18 de mayo de 2025. La detención llega unos días después de que las autoridades desarticularan una banda de extorsionadores ligados al crimen organizado que operaban en la capital turística de Guerrero, la misma donde Suástegui había denunciado la presión del cobro de piso a la que era sometido él y sus compañeros.
En la detención participaron agentes de la Policía Investigadora Ministerial, agentes estatales, elementos de la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, Guardia Nacional, Marina y de la Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana. El operativo siguió y acorraló a Harold ‘N’, quien tenía una orden de captura por el delito de homicidio calificado contra Suástegui. “De acuerdo con las investigaciones, el imputado está relacionado con los hechos ocurridos el 18 de abril de 2025 en las inmediaciones del acceso a playa Icacos, donde presuntamente accionó un arma de fuego en contra de Marco Antonio ‘N’, ocasionándole lesiones que posteriormente le provocaron la muerte”, ha detallado la dependencia en un comunicado.
El líder de la organización civil Consejo de Ejidos y Comunidades Opositoras a la Presa La Parota (CECOP) pasó varios días en el hospital antes de morir. Los meses previos había encabezado las luchas locales contra un proyecto hidroeléctrico en las inmediaciones de la comunidad que buscaba explotar el agua de los ríos Papagayo y Omitlán para abastecer de agua el puerto de Acapulco y generar electricidad. La obra inundaría a 21 comunidades en las cercanías, desplazando a más de 20.000 personas. En paralelo, era la voz de los trabajadores turísticos de la playa, y había denunciado los abusos de los grupos empresariales hoteleros y políticos para privatizar el lugar, así como los entramados del crimen organizado para cobrar derecho de piso por operar en la zona y el narcomenudeo presente en la playa.
Una de las principales bandas de extorsionadores de Acapulco fue desmantelada a principios de mes en un operativo. Sus integrantes perseguían a los comerciantes que se negaban a pagar o participar en los barridos de la organización para secuestrarlos, llevarlos a diversos domicilios repartidos por la ciudad costera y tablearlos como método de tortura. La banda extorsionaba bajo el pretexto de ser una organización civil llamada Frente de Defensa Zofemat Acapulco bajo el liderazgo de Jesús Zamora Cervantes, el presunto líder que obligaba a los comerciantes a usar un uniforme y credenciales, así como a pagar sanciones si no le obedecían. Él y otros nueve miembros del grupo están detenidos.
Las reiteradas amenazas que servían le habían valido la concesión de medidas cautelares de protección por parte del Estado, que sirvieron de poco el día que el sicario en moto que se le acercó le disparó ocho veces. El activista conocía a su asesino y llegó a decirle el nombre a su mujer. Su familia siempre denunció quiénes eran los responsables del crimen y exigían justicia. Por el momento, Harold ‘N’ ha pasado a disposición de un juez de control para determinar su situación jurídica.
La detención de dos adultos por parte de agentes del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) durante una ceremonia de graduación preescolar en Baltimore, Maryland, provocó una fuerte reacción de autoridades estatales y locales, que cuestionaron la realización de operativos migratorios en espacios vinculados a menores de edad.
Según reportes difundidos por el Daily Mail y declaraciones de funcionarios estatales, los arrestos ocurrieron el jueves en el estacionamiento de la escuela Commodore John Rodgers, mientras familias y estudiantes participaban en actividades de fin de curso.
Videos grabados por testigos muestran a agentes federales sometiendo a un hombre en el suelo para esposarlo, mientras padres, maestros y niños observaban la escena. En otra grabación se aprecia la detención de una mujer poco después.
Niños lloraron durante el operativo
De acuerdo con el presidente del Senado de Maryland, Bill Ferguson, los adultos arrestados viajaban con niños en el asiento trasero de su vehículo.
El legislador aseguró que los menores comenzaron a llorar cuando sus padres fueron retirados del automóvil por agentes federales.
“Educadores heroicos llevaron a los niños al interior de la escuela para intentar protegerlos de la situación”, afirmó Ferguson en un video publicado en redes sociales.
Las autoridades escolares indicaron que la ceremonia continuó una vez concluido el operativo y señalaron que colaboran con agencias locales, estatales y federales para esclarecer lo sucedido.
Alcalde y gobernador condenan las detenciones
El incidente generó una inmediata respuesta del alcalde de Baltimore, Brandon Scott, quien calificó los hechos como preocupantes.
“Este tipo de actuación policial no es bienvenida en Baltimore”, expresó el alcalde en un comunicado.
Scott agregó que la presencia de ICE ha incrementado el miedo y la ansiedad entre las comunidades inmigrantes de la ciudad.
Por su parte, el gobernador de Maryland, Wes Moore, sostuvo que las escuelas deben ser espacios seguros para estudiantes y familias.
“Las escuelas son lugares donde los niños deben sentirse seguros, no donde los agentes federales llevan a cabo acciones de control migratorio frente a ellos”, declaró.
Debate sobre operativos en lugares sensibles
La controversia ocurre semanas después de que Baltimore aprobara una legislación de emergencia que busca restringir la actuación de agentes federales en lugares considerados sensibles, incluidas escuelas públicas.
Hasta el momento, ICE no ha informado públicamente la identidad de los detenidos ni si enfrentaban antecedentes penales. Tampoco se ha aclarado si los menores presentes eran estudiantes de la institución.
El caso reavivó el debate sobre los límites de las operaciones migratorias en espacios frecuentados por niños y familias, en medio del endurecimiento de las políticas de inmigración impulsadas por la administración del presidente Donald Trump.
La Paz, Bolivia.- Frente a la emergencia antrópica declarada en Bolivia, la OPS activó un plan de contingencia inmediato para respaldar al Ministerio de Salud y Deportes (MSyD). La prioridad ha sido clara: sostener la continuidad de las atenciones médicas y blindar la capacidad de respuesta del sistema público mediante decisiones ágiles y estratégicas.
Para lograrlo, el núcleo de esta cooperación se concentró en transformar la Sala Situacional Nacional. Mediante el despliegue dinámico de asesores técnicos, tanto nacionales como internacionales, la OPS trabaja con las autoridades en la elaboración de informes críticos, la priorización de necesidades sobre el terreno, la gestión de la compleja logística de suministros (como el oxígeno) y la articulación de la ayuda internacional. Este esfuerzo se fortaleció de manera directa con la contratación e incorporación de cinco Voluntarias de las Naciones Unidas (UNVs). Este equipo se encarga de la colecta activa y el registro en tiempo real de los datos hospitalarios para validar la información, permitiendo que las autoridades tomen decisiones rápidas basadas en la realidad, lo que agiliza la rectoría del Ministerio y se traduce en vidas salvadas.
Asimismo, en el marco de la emergencia, la cooperación técnica de OPS ha sido fundamental para la activación de una mesa técnica de comunicación de riesgos en la Sala Situacional Nacional, para coordinar los mensajes institucionales y difundir de manera oportuna las medidas de protección. Como parte de este proceso, la OPS apoyó el codiseño de un plan operativo con lineamientos específicos para fortalecer las acciones de comunicación de riesgos durante la contingencia, que permitan un mejor ordenamiento de la respuesta comunicacional y facilite el acceso de la población a información sobre medidas de protección.
A la par de este soporte estratégico en la Sala Situacional, las acciones operativas avanzan en tres frentes clave:
Equipamiento y Oxigenoterapia: Se entregaron 50 concentradores de oxígeno de bajo flujo (10L/m) que actúan como un pulmón de alivio para el sistema sanitario. Estos equipos, distribuidos en centros médicos de primer y segundo nivel, atienden en conjunto entre 250 y 400 pacientes diarios. Su uso estratégico descongestiona los hospitales de alta complejidad, permitiendo reservar el oxígeno de alto flujo exclusivamente para los pacientes críticos en terapia intensiva.
Campaña de donación de sangre: La solidaridad también se movilizó en las propias oficinas de la OPS, donde una jornada de recolección logró convocar a 39 donantes del Sistema de Naciones Unidas y de instituciones aliadas. El procesamiento de estos hemoderivados proyecta beneficiar y salvar la vida de hasta 117 pacientes que requieren transfusiones de urgencia.
Medicamentos de alta complejidad: Para asegurar que las personas más vulnerables no interrumpan sus tratamientos durante la crisis, se gestionó la llegada de un lote de medicamentos oncológicos esenciales que garantizará el tratamiento completo de 208 adultos, niños y niñas con cáncer. Asimismo, se coordinó el arribo de insulinas vitales para sostener la salud de aproximadamente 171000 pacientes diabéticos durante un mes.

La organización mantiene su compromiso de acompañar al Ministerio de Salud y Deportes no solo durante el curso de esta emergencia, sino también en las etapas posteriores de consolidación, asegurando un soporte continuo que fortalezca el sistema sanitario de manera sostenible y garantice el derecho a la salud de toda la población, especialmente de las comunidades en mayor situación de vulnerabilidad.
Panamá, 12 de junio de 2026 – Panamá ha sido designada por la Organización Panamericana de la Salud/Organización Mundial de la Salud (OPS/OMS) como la sede regional para la conmemoración del Día Mundial del Donante de Sangre bajo el lema “Una gota de humanidad. Donemos sangre. Salvemos vidas”. Aunque la fecha oficial global es el 14 de junio, el acto central y los paneles estratégicos de alto nivel se llevaron a cabo en la capital panameña el viernes 12 de junio.
Más que una conmemoración, la jornada regional buscó promover una reflexión colectiva sobre la responsabilidad compartida de garantizar sangre segura y disponible para quienes la necesitan. Porque todos esperamos que la sangre esté disponible cuando un ser querido la necesite, pero para que eso ocurra alguien debe haber decidido donar antes.
El acceso oportuno a sangre segura y de calidad es un componente esencial para la atención de emergencias, cirugías y complicaciones obstétricas. Históricamente, la región ha enfrentado desafíos por la dependencia de la donación por reposición. La elección de Panamá busca consolidar sistemas basados en la donación altruista y visibilizar la actualización de las Normas Técnicas nacionales.
El objetivo general es posicionar la donación voluntaria como una prioridad política y social. El enfoque estratégico se centra en tres pilares: fortalecer la gobernanza y el financiamiento del sistema, garantizar la disponibilidad oportuna en los servicios de salud y promover la movilización multisectorial para inspirar a las futuras generaciones de donantes.
Actualmente, Panamá cuenta con una red nacional de 36 bancos de sangre, además de centros de donación y servicios transfusionales, lo que representa una base importante para avanzar hacia un sistema más integrado, solidario y equitativo. Pero la infraestructura por sí sola no basta: se necesita fortalecer una cultura de donación voluntaria, regular y altruista.
La realidad también nos llama a actuar. En 2024, Panamá registró 67,332 donaciones de sangre; sin embargo, solo el 11.38% correspondió a donación voluntaria. Además, la donación se concentra principalmente en la región Metro-Oriente, que reúne cerca de dos terceras partes del total nacional, lo que plantea desafíos para la disponibilidad oportuna de sangre en todo el territorio.
Una sola donación puede salvar varias vidas, lo que resalta la importancia de contar con donantes regulares para garantizar disponibilidad oportuna en los servicios de salud
Celebrado en el auditorio principal de la Ciudad de la Salud, el acto protocolario incluyó las intervenciones de las máximas autoridades de la OPS/OMS, el MINSA, la Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) y el Despacho de la Primera Dama, complementado con un video mensaje del Director de la OPS, Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, y la presentación de acciones conjuntas entre Dona Vida y la OPS.
Posteriormente, la jornada técnica se dividió en dos paneles especializados: el primero centrado en la gobernanza y financiamiento con la participación de representantes de los ministerios de salud de Colombia, Paraguay y Panamá, quienes discutieron sobre modelos de sistemas coordinados de sangre, recomendados por la OPS para mejorar la eficiencia y el acceso equitativo; y el segundo enfocado en la movilización social, donde fundaciones, la empresa privada y la Cruz Roja Colombiana debatieron estrategias colectivas y destacaron la importancia de estrategias basadas en evidencia para fomentar cambios de comportamiento y fidelizar donantes voluntarios.
“Hoy queremos invitar a cada persona a hacerse una pregunta: ¿somos parte del problema o somos parte de la solución? Todos esperamos que la sangre esté disponible cuando alguien que amamos la necesite, pero para que eso ocurra alguien debe haber decidido donar antes. La donación voluntaria, regular y no remunerada de sangre es uno de los actos más sencillos y poderosos de solidaridad humana, porque detrás de cada donación hay una vida que puede continuar”, destacó la Dra. Ana Rivière-Cinnamond, representante de la OPS/OMS en Panamá.
“Este reconocimiento de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud no es fruto del azar, es el reflejo del esfuerzo sostenido, de la rigurosidad técnica y del compromiso inquebrantable de todo el sistema que trabaja día a día en la supervisión, regulación y fortalecimiento de nuestra red nacional de bancos de sangre. Ser sede de este evento nos impulsa a seguir elevando los estándares de seguridad y calidad para que nunca le falte a ningún panameño”, señaló el Lic. Julio Arosemena, secretario general del MINSA.
Como antesala a las actividades, el pasado martes 9 de junio se realizó un Webinar Regional sobre Elegibilidad para la Donación de Sangre. Asimismo, en el marco de la campaña, la OMS ha puesto a disposición la herramienta de personalización de avatar e imágenes institucionales, por medio de la campaña “Drop Your Drop”, diseñada para amplificar el mensaje de concientización en plataformas digitales de toda la región.
