Signed, sealed and delivered in time for training camp, Ty Simpson is the final member of the 2026 NFL Draft first round to come to terms on his rookie contract.
Simpson agreed to terms on a four-year, $25.4 million fully guaranteed rookie deal with the Los Angeles Rams that includes a $14.9 million signing bonus, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, the team’s official report day for training camp.
The league transaction wire, which came out later on Saturday, listed Simpson’s signing as official.
The No. 13 overall pick of the draft and perhaps the most stunning selection of April’s festivities, Simpson agreed to his deal three days after No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendozainked his deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. Mendoza and Simpson were the only quarterbacks taken in the 2026 first round.
McLaurin finished third on the team in receptions last season with 38 after missing seven contests. Washington’s top two receptions leaders, Deebo Samuel and Zach Ertz, are no longer rostered. No other wide receiver still on the team reached 20 catches. Brown, who had 20 receptions as a Jaguar in 2025, topped out at a single-season high of 30 catches during his first, four-year stint with the Commanders, while Jefferson collected just 29 receptions for 350 yards and a score last year for the Titans.
Suffice it to say, the Commanders must prioritize figuring out where the firepower is coming from during training camp.
Tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo could help in that regard. He joins Washington fresh off a career-best campaign in which he produced 560 yards and two TDs on 56 receptions. The rookie Williams is also one to watch.
Like Williams, McLaurin entered his 2019 rookie year with a wide-open WR depth chart. He rose to the occasion and led the team across the board with 58 receptions, 919 yards and seven scores in his first year.

It could have been Cleveland. It could have been Miami. Golden State appeared to be in the mix as well, but realistically the decision for James seemed to be between going home to the Cavaliers, going back to the Heat or writing one last chapter on a clean sheet of paper with the 76ers.
Philadelphia already had one of the steals of the summer when it acquired Jaylen Brown in a trade with the Boston Celtics. It has an elite guard in Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid — when healthy — is almost unstoppable.
It has a rising star in VJ Edgecombe, and a coach in Nick Nurse (who turned 59 on Friday, so we can assume his birthday wish has already come true) who already has a championship ring on his finger from his stint in Toronto.
In other words, it more than meets James’ criteria. On paper, if everything went right even before Friday’s news, the 76ers were already primed to be a contender.
Now, with James, anything less than contention would be utter failure. And while some will say he’s ring-chasing, it’s hard for that argument to hold up considering that Philadelphia hasn’t won a title since 1983.
Regardless, this task for James won’t be easy. The Eastern Conference is absolutely loaded.
The NBA champion Knicks play 100 miles away from Philly, and that rivalry will somehow get even hotter now. If the 76ers go to New York for opening night, when the Knicks get their first championship rings in 53 years, those crazy prices for games at Madison Square Garden for the NBA Finals might seem like pocket change.
And the East is much more than just the Knicks. Detroit won 60 games last season. Cleveland will be in the mix. Miami added Giannis Antetokounmpo; the Heat were waiting to see what James would decide and now will look to add more shooting and backcourt help.
And if this past season was any indication, even though trading Brown was puzzling to some, it would be foolish to count Boston out of anything.
“This is my last decision,” James wrote. “I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point?”
A serious challenge awaits
There will be growing pains.
Miami started 9-8 in James’ first season with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Philadelphia is starting over in many ways; it’s not as simple as it sounds to just plug Brown and James into the starting lineup for Paul George and Kelly Oubre Jr. Brown, James, Embiid and Maxey will have to figure it out, and it will take time.
There will be losses. Trust the process, as they say in Philadelphia. It will be a process.
But if they figure it out …
James could play quarterback and just spread the ball around all day if he wants. He can still fill a stat sheet like almost nobody else. He and Embiid won Olympic gold together. Maxey is just coming into his own. Brown is going to have a chip on his shoulder the size of the Liberty Bell to prove the naysayers from Boston wrong. If this works, it’s going to be spectacular. If it doesn’t, it’ll be a spectacular flameout. There is no in-between.
So, now the NBA schedule can be finished. It was the question — where will LeBron go? — that the whole league was asking, and with all respect to Allen Iverson’s nickname, Philly was The Answer.

Nacido en Buenaventura el primero de marzo de 1934, a Vivas lo llamaron siempre Achito, que era, realmente, el nombre de su padre. Comenzó su carrera en Atlético Nacional en 1958, a donde llegó para ser el suplente de otra de las leyendas del fútbol colombiano, Julio ‘Chonto’ Gaviria. Solo jugó dos partidos, curiosamente, con el nombre de Adelmo Zúñiga.

En su ABC del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano, el fallecido historiador Guillermo Ruiz Bonilla describió a Achito como un arquero “de gran físico, titular del equipo en varias temporadas por su gran regularidad, con algunos problemas en el juego aéreo”.
Además de Pereira y Nacional, Vivas jugó en el Quindío (1965), fue el primer arquero del Junior en la reaparición del equipo en 1966 y también pasó por Once Caldas (1968) y Deportes Tolima (1969). Jugó 284 partidos en su carrera.

El club chileno Colo Colo alcanzó un acuerdo para fichar al portero titular de la selección de Cabo Verde, Josimar José Évora Dias ‘Vozinha’, según anunció este viernes el presidente de la institución, Aníbal Mosa.

As James contemplated his next stop — perhaps not his final destination either, who knows — he was fine with teams moving on without him if that was best for them. No team that thought it had a chance to sign him did that.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, a keynote speaker at the CNBC Sport x Boardroom Game Plan Summit last week in New York, told moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin, “I have my own inkling, but it’s not based on anything that LeBron or Rich have told me. I’m not going to share it with you, but I’m just saying, it’s not, it’s, I don’t know.”

Stretching late into the third week of July, this was the latest James had announced his plans in free agency.
“He’s going to be 42 this fall,” Silver said. “It’s amazing what he’s done for the sport, for the league, and he deserves exactly what — the opportunities that were presented to him to be able to make his own decision on what’s best for him and his family.”
At the Game Plan Summit, James had a conversation with Boardroom’s Rich Kleiman. Family was James’ first priority, especially the considerations of his 11-year-old daughter Zhuri.
“I’m a big family guy,” he said. “People are like, ‘Hurry up and make a (expletive) decision, Bron.’ It’s like, OK, it’s not just about the team. …
“It is challenging when you’re trying to change the family tree, being present all the time, but also at the same time understanding that I have a passion over here that pulls me away from that. How do you balance that?”
There were basketball considerations, too.
“What not only best fits me as a player, what best fits me as a person, what best fits for my happiness, and also with my family as well,” he said.
James’ thought process echoed advice influential agent David Falk, who represented Michael Jordan, often gave clients. He wanted them to consider multiple factors. Is it about money? Is it about a championship? Do you want to play in a certain city or for a specific team or coach? Is there another guy you want to play alongside? What is going to make you happiest?
As James measured his options during free agency, he also lived his best life. He golfed. Vacationed with teammates from Cleveland’s 2016 championship team. Golfed some more. Attended Jay-Z concerts at Yankee Stadium. Sipped wine. Worked out. Conducted business.
He dismissed the idea that golf would influence his decision.
“My main focus while I’m playing a game of basketball is to keep the main thing the main thing,” James told Kleiman. “And I have always done that. I will find a golf simulator if I’m in the cold for sure. That will hold me over until they open up. But listen, keeping the main thing the main thing has always been the main focus for me. And that’s the reason why everything has worked the way it’s worked.”

“No one said this is going to be his last year,” Paul said during a recent podcast. “No one said that.
James seemed to support that possibility when he said in his social post: “When I’m done with (basketball), I’d be 24, 25 years in – 26 years who knows, whatever – (and) when I’m done, there’s no way I can fill that void.
“But I can now focus myself on other things that I want to do and continue to do what I have been doing, continue to build on what we have been doing as a company. I’ve got a pretty good documentary in the works too. It is going to be electric when I’m done with it.”
